Visiting BAR HARBOR and ACADIA NATIONAL PARK  (18 miles away) on MOUNT DESERT ISLAND, the BLUE HILL PENINSULA (30 minute drive) and SCHOODIC POINT (45 minute drive)?   The Eagle’s Lodge Motel in Ellsworth serves as a central hub for vacationers and business travelers visiting Hancock County and Downeast Maine’s scenic attractions. We are situated near the intersection of U. S. Routes 1 & 3, yet the Birdsacre Sanctuary across the street offers 200 acres of protected wilderness and walking trails located right in the heart of the Beckwith Hill Business District!

A great shopping experience awaits you in the City of Ellsworth with a diverse selection of shops. Our vibrant Downtown is just a mile away and features art galleries, antique shops, museums, a performing arts center, fine jewelry artisans, farmers’ markets, children’s shops, book and toy stores, a bakery, home-made ice cream parlors, a health food market, a store for cooks, several unusual gift shops and factory outlet stores.

Blue Hill Mountain overlooks the village of Blue Hill at the ocean's edge. Quaint shops, beautiful vistas and great outdoor opportunities abound a 30 minute drive in any direction from our doorstep.

Many locally owned restaurants are open year round for a truly varied dining experience -- you may choose a seafood restaurant one night and then the next night decide to sample Mediterranean, Thai and Sushi, Mexican, International, Chinese, Irish, pub food, a pizza or steak. Seasonal restaurants include several take out spots and lobster pounds; a lobster pound is a roadside eatery that cooks the clams, mussels and lobster in pots of salt water over wood fires.

Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Birdsacre, is a wonderful place for a stroll; Kisma Preserve, the Bar Harbor Golf Course, the Ellsworth Tennis Center, Gladstone’s Under the Sun, the Great Maine Lumberjack Show, Seacoast Fun Park, Scenic Flights of Acadia, Seal Cove Auto Museum and the Woodlawn Museum (also known as The Colonel Black Mansion) are located within a few miles. Our area also offers whale watching trips and sightseeing cruises, bike and kayak rentals, a multi-use trail, a microbrewery and vineyards, scenic train and trolley rides, beaches and hiking trails – so many things to do and see!

Take a stroll up and down our city's beautiful Main Street. From gifts to clothing to great restaurants, we have it all.

We pride ourselves on being your “Home away from home.” Take off your shoes and kick back – we are here for all of your lodging needs.
