Many locally owned restaurants are open year round for a truly
varied dining experience -- you may choose a seafood restaurant one night and
then the next night decide to sample Mediterranean, Thai and Sushi, Mexican,
International, Chinese, Irish, pub food, a pizza or steak. Seasonal restaurants
include several take out spots and lobster pounds; a lobster pound is a roadside
eatery that cooks the clams, mussels and lobster in pots of salt water over wood
fires.
Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Birdsacre, is a wonderful place for a
stroll; Kisma Preserve, the Bar Harbor Golf Course, the Ellsworth Tennis Center,
Gladstone’s Under the Sun, the Great Maine Lumberjack Show, Seacoast Fun Park,
Scenic Flights of Acadia, Seal Cove Auto Museum and the Woodlawn Museum (also
known as The Colonel Black Mansion) are located within a few miles. Our area
also offers whale watching trips and sightseeing cruises, bike and kayak
rentals, a multi-use trail, a microbrewery and vineyards, scenic train and
trolley rides, beaches and hiking trails – so many things to do and see! |
